In a city everyday more dispersed where the business and leisure centres are becoming more and more peripheric, to revitalize Baixa Pombalina becomes a difficult but necessary labour. Due to it’s use clearly terciary, depending on the migrational flows of people, Baixa sufers from nocturnal desertification and of a lack of arguments to compete with other leisure centres throughout the city.
We propose a reflection on the potential that Baixa offers as an historical place unique nationally and internationally. We’ll have to take advantage of its spacial and commercial caractheristiques so we can promote uses “after hours” that can create an image of modernity and confidence in the historical centres.
