This pastry shop has been working on the first Lisbon shopping mall, since the beginning. It had not been renewed for almost twenty years and the work flow was slowing down. In 2008 it was purchased by new owners and they defined the brief for the renovation: maintain the product and the equipment but change the look and furniture to a more clean and modern atmosphere.

We worked with very basic materials like plaster, ceramic and wall covering vinyl. We designed a new technical roof with a better placing of the ventilation and with LED lights, in order to reduce maintenance costs and heat. A second acoustic roof was placed over the table’s area, to reduce the typical noise of Portuguese restaurants.

We have designed a central column, covered by black board sheets, which centralize all product information, that can be seen from people crossing by as well as people seated. We have also changed all product pricing and waiters uniforms in order to relate them to the new atmosphere. On the first day it reopened they sold more pastries than ever.
